Shakespeare published 154 sonnets in his quarto in 1609. While the initial 126 are addressed to a young man, the final 28 are directed toward an enigmatic woman referred to as the dark lady.

Artaban is a long practicing magician of over twenty years, preferring the term Sorcerer though also secretly fond of “Wizard” and has been referred to as a Druid. A practitioner of “Dirt Sorcery” and Animism, Artaban is also influenced by Hermeticism, Folk Catholicism and Christian beliefs including Hoodoo and Braucheri, The Faery Faith, and multiple streams of Paganism. A direct descendent of a Franco-Germanic woman executed for witchcraft (likely not a witch) as well as at least one Appalachian folk healer famous for his ability to assist in midwifery, Artaban is a lifelong student of the intersection of magical praxis and history. Artaban occasionally will perform cartomancy or conduct spiritual services but is currently not taking new clients outside of personal referral. A consultant and solutions based life coach for over a decade Artaban is currently focused on more literary and research-based pursuits.
